Bourbon chicken recipe

Bourbon chicken is a rich and delicious dish made with tender chicken thighs and a great bourbon sauce. Sweet and spicy, this sauce is packed with flavors of bourbon, brown sugar, apple juice, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and a few other delicious ingredients. Serve over rice or vegetables and you'll have an instant dinner.


°2 pounds of chicken thigh meat
°3 tablespoons cornstarch
°3 tablespoons of peanut or vegetable oil
Bourbon sauce:
°1/4 cup bourbon
°1/2 cup apple juice
°2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
°2/3 cup soy sauce
°1 cup chicken broth
°1/4 cup ketchup
°1/4 cup brown sugar
°4 large garlic cloves
°1 teaspoon fresh ginger
°1 teaspoon more or less red pepper flakes to adjust heat
°2 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch

Combine all sauce ingredients in a mixing bowl, whisk well and set aside.
Cut the chicken thighs into small pieces and cut off as much fat as possible in the process.
Putting chicken pieces in zip-top bag. Add the cornstarch, close the bag, and shake well to make sure the chicken is completely covered.
Heat a large saucepan first and add the oil. Add the shredded chicken and stir from all sides until almost done. Take out the chicken and set it aside.
Stir the sauce again and add it to the same pan where the chicken was cooked.
Stir slowly and let the sauce simmer over a low heat. Once it thickens, add the chicken, reduce the heat and cook with the sauce.
Finish the dish with the shallot cubes.
Serve over rice or roasted/fried vegetables.
