Scalloped-Potatoes & Ham


°6 cups thinly sliced ​​(1/4 inch) potatoes
°2 cups ham, any cooked ham or leftover Easter meat
°4 tablespoons butter
°1/4 cup all-purpose flour
°3 cups plain milk or 2% milk
°2 cups cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, or a combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheese
°1 teaspoon dried parsley
°1 teaspoon dried chives
°1 teaspoon salt
°1/4 teaspoon pepper

* instructions:

Washing potatoe (& peel them, if you prefer) & slice them to thin slice (for 1/4 inch) or using mandolin slicer. Add it to a bowl and add the chopped cooked pork as well. Seasoning with salt also pepper & stir well.

In  saucepan, melting 4 tsp butter on heat. Gradually add flour and beat until smooth. Add grated cheese and beat. Gradually adding milk also letting it boil. Season with salt and pepper and add some dried herbs as well. Cook and stir for 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prepare a 13" x 9" baking dish and grease it with some butter. Add half of the potato and ham mixture to the baking dish and distribute evenly. Putting half of sauce on top. Add the other half of the potato mixture to the tray and pour the remaining sauce into the oven, making sure the entire area is covered with the sauce.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 375°F for about 70 minutes or until potatoes are tender (check with a fork, if you can pierce them easily, they are done)

Remove from the oven, remove the aluminum foil, sprinkle a handful of shredded cheese on top, add more dried herbs and bake, uncovered, for another 10-15 minutes, until the surface is golden and bubbling.
